About the engagement
On 31 March 2025, Budwin participated as a speaker in a cross-border legal exchange jointly organised by the Xiamen Maritime Silk Road Foreign Law Ascertainment Centre and DeHeng Law Offices (Xiamen). The event brought together more than thirty corporate legal professionals, academics and practitioners.
His contribution addressed the interaction of Roman-Dutch law, English common law and local customary law in Sri Lanka. The organiser’s report highlights his discussion of arbitration clause design and the role of Sri Lanka’s Board of Investment in navigating investment compliance.
The programme included contributions from practitioners working across several jurisdictions, followed by discussion of cross-border investment and compliance.
